Cloisonné Enamel Inkwell Pair Lot Of Two Antique His & Hers XIXème

  • TWO (2) Antique Cloisonné Enamel Inkwells
  • A lovely vibrant 'His & Hers' pair, one larger, one smaller.
  • Both are missing their glass inkwell inserts.
  • Both are missing their little godet finials.
  • The larger is missing a small element above the lid.
  • The smaller one has an illegible mark on the bottom.
  • The larger has no discernible mark.
  • Can be polished brighter or left as is.
  • Sold as a lot only. These are not available for individual sale.
  • COUNTRY of Origin: France.
  • AGE: Fin XIXème.

SIZE:

  • The larger measures overall approximately 22 cm x 12,5 cm x 6,5 cm // 8.6 inches x 5 inches x 2.6 inches.
  • The smaller measures overall approximately 15,5 cm x 9,5 cm x 6,5 cm // 6.15 inches x 3.75 inches x 2.5 inches.

 

CONDITION:

  • By " antique " we mean over 100 years of age.
  • By " vintage " we mean between 50 and 100 years of age.
  • These items are made of matter and they are OLD; this means they are NOT NEW.
  • They are not recent reproductions, they are not recent copies and they are not fakes.

  • Both are missing their glass inkwell inserts.
  • Both are missing their little godet finials.
  • The larger is missing a small element above the lid.

  • There are minor overall surface scratches.
  • There is minor overall oxidation.
  • There is minor bending of the metal.
  • There is some age related crackling of the enamel.
  • There is some loss to the enamel and to the finish.

  • RESTORATION: No restoration.
  • MEASUREMENT VERIFIED: Yes.
  • There may also be something that we missed because we aren't specifically trained to see it.
  • We've not examined these microscopically.
  • We've not taken these apart or put them back together.
  • We've not subtracted anything nor added anything that was not already there.
  • We've not cleaned them.

  • There's nothing functionally wrong with them.
