Ghislaine GEERTS a.k.a. MACHA (Uccle, 1933)
- Ghislaine GEERTS a.k.a. (also known as) under the pseudonym of MACHA (Uccle, 1933).
- Painter, children's book illustrator, engraving (wood and lino), painter using batik.
- The painter is exceptionally well listed in numerous arts dictionaries and references.
- She has a definitive personal style, and a very well established published reputation.
- Studied the decorative arts at l'Ecole industrielle de Bruxelles, book and magazine illustrations and engravings of La Cambre with J. Minne.
- Participated in the exposition "Kunst van Vandaag" (Art Today) at the center for study "Alta Ripa" at Outryve in 1967.
- She designed for the Finnish firm Marimekko and many of her designs for them are still in production, such as the Kevatleikki pattern.
- She is justly famous for her children's book illustrationss, her paintings, engravings and batik designs.
- She is considered a true genius with her use of the technique of collage during the Eames era and the 1950's.

- These works are from the artist's atelier studio in Belgium.
- These are an extract from one of a number of her portfolios and notebooks.
- Some are not signed. Some are signed in various ways, as Ghislaine, with initials G.G., as G. Geerts, and just G.
CONDITION:
- By " antique " we mean over 100 years of age.
- By " vintage " we mean between 50 and 100 years of age.
- These paintings are made of matter and they are OLD; this means they are NOT NEW.
- These are not modern reproductions, they are not recent copies, and they are not fakes..

- There is some overall oxidation.

- The paper may show some browning, freckling, toning, foxing.

- Peintre, Illustratrice de livres pour enfants, graveuse (bois, lino), peintre sur batik.
- Etudie les arts décoratifs à l'Ecole industrielle de Bruxelles,
- l'illustration de livres et la gravure à La Cambre avec J. Minne.
- A participé à l'exposition "Kunst van Vandaag" (Art Aujourd'hui) au Centre d'étude "Alta Ripa" à Outryve en 1967.
- Elle a conçu pour le finlandais Marimekko ferme. (Dictionnaire PIRON).
- Cette artiste a été rendue célèbre par ces illustrations de livres pour enfants.
- C'est une adepte de la technique du collage en plein essor dans les années 40-50.
- Cette aquarelle est signée, et fait partie du fond d'atelier dont beaucoup d'oeuvres portent la signature de l'artiste, soit G. Geerts, soit simplement Ghislaine.
