SIZE:

  • This measures overall, as measured along the top of the piece, approximately 68,8 cm x 25,5 cm x 43 cm // 27 inches from bottom to top (height) x 10 inches front to back (depth) x 17 inches side to side (width).
  • The small drawers measure in width approximately 9,5 cm // 3.75 inches.
  • The larger drawers measure in width approximately 36 cm // 14.25 inches.
  • The center door measures approximately 30,5 cm x 16 cm // 12 inches x 6 inches.
  • The depth of the interior cabinet behind the door measures from back to front approximately 19,5 cm // 7.75 inches.

The cabinet is remarkably sturdy and holds a great deal of weight for its' size. We've filled the center top shelves and each of the six bottom six drawers with easily well over 50 pounds of weight with no problems, using displayed iron and glass door knobs and heavy bronze door knockers. The larger drawers are also great for holding literally dozens of remote controls.

This has the original finish of deep mahogany red as shown in the detailed photos of the finish. There is considerable aging and crackling of the finish, and we've tried to show its' remarkable character in the detailed photos; please note the photographs of the top and sides of the piece as they show finish details.

There are a total of 22 drawers, one door, and 2 interior shelves. There are 16 small upper drawers; 8 on each side of a center door; some of the small drawers have interior dividers. The center upper door swings open on hinges to reveal two inner shelves; this is a self-contained small cabinet area. This door does not close flush. There are 6 lower full width drawers, one of which has interior dividers. Please see the detailed photos of individual drawers.

The two shelves in the center front cabinet area are somewhat bowed and the cabinet door does not close flush. The lower of the two shelves is removable for cleaning; the upper shelf is fixed in place.

The drawers were made from recycled wooden crates. They have many irregularities. There is still printing and advertising on the interiors and backs of many of them. The bottoms of the larger drawers are thus slatted and there are air spaces between the slates; you would need to line these larger drawers should you wish to put teeny tiny things in them. Please see the detailed photos of individual drawers and the detailed photos of the back of the piece to see the slats, and some of the printed advertising remaining on the wood.

This is missing a strip of molding on the upper right facing side; it looks to have been deliberately removed and refinished, not by us. This was probably done by a previous owner in order to fit the cabinet flush into a corner as there is only one new metal hanging hook remaining still attached at the back (at the upper right corner) and there is a substantial old chip in the wood at the upper left back corner, probably due to such a procedure. Please see the detailed photos of the back. This chip is only viewable when seeing the back straight on; you can't see this when viewing the piece from the top, front, or sides.

The round metal drawer pull rings are the originals; we've not replaced the few that are missing and we'll leave that to you.
