HOW TO MEASURE YOUR PET FOR THEIR SIZE

  • Look at the diagram below.
  • Measure your pet as per the diagram's instructions in the pix, below.
  • Use these measurements to determine if your pet wears a standard small, medium, large, extra large or gigantic.
  • If you have a very stout or fat pet, you may want to size up to the next larger overall size.
  • If your pet requires a special size or shape, we can do custom knitting orders on request.
  • Custom orders take 4 to 6 weeks and aren't returnable. Email us for details.

  • To measure, look at the diagram below.
  • Measure your pet as per the diagram's instructions.
  • You'll need a flexible tape measure, not a yard stick.

  • Stand up your pet, squarely on all four feet, as you measure!
  • Measure your pet standing UP, NOT sitting, not slouching, not lying down.
  • Be sure to take these measurements carefully, and thank your pet for their cooperation!

LENGTH

  • Find the spot where the tail joins the body.
  • Start at this spot, where the tail joins the body, and measure straight up their spine to the base of their collar at the back of their neck.
  • This is the LENGTH of your pet.

GIRTH

  • Next, measure your pet again, for their circumference.
  • Starting at the spine at the base of the collar, loop the measuring tape entirely around your pet's rib cage.
  • Note the measurement around their entire rib cage.
  • This measurement around their entire rib cage is the 'CHEST circumference',  also called 'girth'.

VERIFY SIZE: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, Gigantic.

  • Now, compare your pet's 2 measurements, length and chest, to our measurements.
  • Knit dog sweaters do stretch somewhat.
  • If you have a very stout or fat pet, you may want to size up to the next larger overall size.
  • If your pet requires a special size or shape, we can do custom knitting orders on request.
  • Custom orders take 4 to 6 weeks and aren't returnable. Email us for details.
  • Questions? Email us; we're happy to help.
  • Thanks for visiting!
